HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Astros pitcher Lance McCullers will spend Saturday at the Mutts, Meows & McCullers event to benefit Houston Pets Alive!

The event will take place at the PetSmart located at 8380 Westheimer Rd. at Dunvale.

"These animals are really the most amazing creatures on Earth, so loving so caring, but are often tossed to the side," McCullers said.

Houston Pets Alive Founder, Andrea Birkelbach says, "Houston Pets alive is a no-kill, rescue and advocacy group. We pull animals from Harris County animal control that are set to be euthanized."

McCullers and his wife, Kara, will be taking pictures, signing autographs and helping with Pet adoptions.

"We can expect a lot of fun on Saturday," McCullers said. "Hopefully a lot of fans of me and the Astros, of me, dogs and cats will come out."
