Officers shoot and kill armed suspect in N Houston, HPD says
Police say the man came out of the home with a gun after allegedly destroying his sister's apartment.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Houston police say they were forced to shoot and kill a man in north Houston Thursday night.

Just before 8:30 p.m. Thursday, HPD says officers were called to an apartment complex on Goodson and Airline Drive in the Greenspoint area.

A woman said her brother was destroying her apartment, according to police.

Before officers arrived, they received another call from the woman, stating that her brother had a gun.

Investigators say the woman and two small children were inside at the time.

When officers arrived, they knocked on the apartment door, HPD says.

"As soon as the door opened, preliminary information indicates that the suspect came out armed with a firearm and pointed it at the officers immediately. There was no delay," Executive Assistant Chief Matt Slinkard said.

Police say the officers then fired multiple times. The suspect was killed.

HPD says the officers were not hurt. The woman and two children were also not hurt.

Police say it is unclear if the suspect fired his weapon.

The officers involved will be placed on administrative leave as a joint investigation begins with HPD, Harris County District Attorney's Office and the Houston Forensic Science Center, according to HPD.
