Officer injured, suspects on the run after overnight burglary

CONROE (KTRK) -- A police officer is in the hospital and the suspects who injured him are still on the run after an overnight burglary.

Police were called to West End Roofing, located along the North Freeway. Upon arrival, the officer caught the suspects in the act of stealing shingles. As soon as police arrived, the suspects got in two trucks and started to take off.

That's when one of the suspects rammed his car into the police cruiser, pinning the officer inside. They fled north on Interstate 45.

One suspect was driving a white truck, possibly a Chevrolet, according to investigators. The other was a tan truck, possibly a Chevrolet or GMC.

Police were unable to get any vehicle information because the suspects' license plates were covered up.
