A wrong way driver was killed on the I-10 East Freeway at John Martin after slamming into an 18-wheeler early this morning. The freeway was shut down for several hours, but reopened to all traffic around 7:54am this morning.

Baytown police say around 2am, a man driving a white Honda Civic got onto the freeway in the wrong direction. The driver then struck a grocery supply store truck head on.

The man's body was then ejected from the vehicle. Police say the 18-wheeler ran over the man's body, killing him.

Police believe the victim's body may have been struck by other vehicles before officers could shut down the freeway. No other drivers stayed on scene.
