Woman says she was carjacked with 6-year-old in car in NW Houston

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A woman says she was carjacked at gunpoint while her child was still inside the car.

It happened around 4 p.m. near 17080 Red Oak Dr. near Houston Northwest Medical Center.

The woman, Jasmine Perkins, was coming out of the doctors office she said when she was getting in her car and a man ran up on her.

"He had the gun pointed at us," Perkins said. "I fought with him a little bit to get my baby out of the car. My baby was hit by the trunk of the car."

She said police quickly responded.

Perkins was unhurt and took her child to the hospital to be checked out.

Police were able to track down the vehicle and have a suspect in custody. The boy has bruises on his back but is said to be okay.
