ELK GROVE VILLAGE, IL -- A 42-year-old woman was fatally stabbed by a family member Sunday morning while visiting a patient at a northwest suburban hospital.

Elk Grove Village police arrested a 44-year-old man immediately and without incident after he reportedly attacked Francisca Quintero, of Burlington, Wisconsin, at Alexian Brothers Medical Center in the 800 block of Biesterfield in Elk Grove Village.

Investigators from both Elk Grove Village and the state's attorney's office are interviewing up to 20 witnesses present at the time of the stabbing.

Several members of one family were visiting a sick relative at the hospital around 11:30 a.m. Sunday in the East Tower of the medical center when a family member attacked Quintero, She was pronounced dead on the scene.

Police said the incident was an isolated domestic issue and that the suspect is cooperating, although no motive for the attack has been released. Charges are expected to be filed sometime Monday morning.

No patients or staff members at the hospital were harmed during the incident.

Alexian Brothers Medical Center issued a release Sunday night saying they are cooperating with the police and local authorities investigating the stabbing, adding that the hospital's "thoughts and prayers are with the family of the victim."
