HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A woman died after a fire ripped through her home in northwest Harris County.

The Little York Fire Department was called to a home in the 4100 block of Valedon at Hambledon Village around 11:00pm Wednesday.

Firefighters found flames coming from one of the back bedrooms. When they entered the home, they found an adult woman still inside.

The victim, a woman in her 60s, identified by family and neighbors as Carolyn McClendon, died at the scene.

"She will be missed," said neighbor Mark Lovett. "I knew her since I was about 10 years old. She was like another mother to me."

"It hurts, because her sister just been dead about two or three months ago," said Loanna Tucker, the victim's aunt. "So it hurts, it really hurts."

Two other adults and a middle school aged child were also inside the home at the time of the fire. They were not injured.

The Harris County Fire Marshal's Office is now investigating the cause of the fire.
