Disabled Indiana woman fights off intruder
Patti Kearney demonstrated how she took matters into her own hands

MARION, IN (KTRK) -- A woman in Indiana took matters into her own hands when she realized a man who forced his way into her home wasn't armed.

She beat him with a back scratcher.

"When he said, 'I don't have a gun,' I went like this and bam, bam and I bammed all the way," said Patti Kearney, showing how she turned the tables on her attacker with the unusual weapon. "I don't think he expected an overweight woman on oxygen to attack him. I really don't."

Kearney says the man demanded guns, but ran away after the back-scratcher beating.

Police are still looking for the suspect.
