HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Denita Homes of Katy lives life to the fullest and Friday it paid off big.

Holmes, a Super Bowl Host Committee volunteer, had planned on watching Super Bowl LI with her family from her couch. She has spent the week immersed in activities but never thought she would be in the middle of the action at NRG Stadium on Sunday. One question changed that.

"Would you happen to have two extra seats in your suite to watch the game? " Holmes asked NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell during an hour-long fan forum at the House of Blues. "It'd be a little better than my couch, but I just thought I'd throw that out there," she added.

Goodell responded with a laugh and then, "Are you serious?" He then told her to see him after.

Afterward, Holmes took a selfie with Goodell and he made good on his word.

"I was in the right place with the right person," Holmes told Eyewitness News.

Two tickets with a face value of $1,500 each to the hottest ticket in town were waiting for her within an hour at a downtown hotel. The score didn't surprise her husband who gets the benefit.

"These things I've learned to get used to. If she puts her mind to it, she's eventually going to get what she wants. It's pretty neat," said Samuel Holmes III.

And for her teenage son who, unfortunately, doesn't get to go, it's a teaching moment.

"The worst you can get is a no. You have to ask," Holmes said.
