Investigators want to know who is responsible in the death of a man off FM 1960.

HARRIS COUNTY, TX (KTRK) -- A 26-year-old man has died after a violent home invasion in northwest Houston.

It all happened just after 11:30pm at an apartment complex on FM 1960 near Champions Forest Drive.

The victim and his girlfriend were inside the apartment when several men barged into the home, says Sgt. Greg Pinkins with the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

"Three black males forced entry in the apartment, shot her boyfriend, demanded money and then after not getting any money, ransacked the apartment and fled," Pinkins says. "They did take the victim's vehicle."

Investigators don't know if the victim was targeted or if this was random.

A family member on the scene describes the victim as "a good guy" and they say they are going to miss him.

The Sheriff's Office says they need your help locating the suspects. They took off in a 2003 beige Buick LeSabre, with chrome wheels.

The Texas license plate for that vehicle reads FMD-8907.
