Harrowing cell phone video shows deputies fatally shooting a suspected car thief in north Houston on Tuesday.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Harris County detectives are investigating an officer-involved shooting on Airline at West Mount Houston in north Houston.

Detectives say deputies shot and killed one suspect. Another suspect has been taken into custody.

Harris County deputies were called to 9559 Airline Drive on a report of a stolen truck at about 2:15 p.m.

According to the sheriff's office, four deputies in multiple vehicles were able to box in a truck with two suspects in it.

The driver allegedly tried to ram into the deputies. All four deputies fired their weapons.

Investigators say the driver was shot multiple times and pronounced dead on the scene.

Another suspect ran away, but was taken into custody soon afterward.

ORIGINAL REPORT: Suspected car thief shot by police

A suspected car thief was shot to death by a Harris County Sheriff's deputy.

While detectives have not formally identified the suspects, family members identified the deceased suspect as Michael Maldonado and the suspect in custody as his brother Joseph.

Family members added that Michael had run-ins with the law in the past, but was working to clean up his act.

As with all officer-involved shootings, all four deputies will be placed on administrative leave as the investigation continues.
