HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Houston and Sugar Land police say two men may be responsible for two jewelry robberies -- one at a northwest Houston mall and another at a high-end jewelry store in Sugar Land.
The first robbery happened on March 9 at Willowbrook Mall around 11:50am.
Police say two men walked into the Zales Diamond Store and one man began brandishing a gun while the second man used two hammers to smash a case holding wedding bands. He grabbed the rings inside the case and then they both ran off.
The man with the gun is described as about 5 feet 10 inches tall, between 150 to 170 pounds, with dark-colored pants and a hoodie. He was wearing a bandanna and armed with a gun. The man with the hammers is described as about 5 feet 9 inches tall, between 160 to 180 pounds, with a gray hoodie and dark-colored pants. He was also wearing a bandanna.
Both men fled the mall on foot. They were last seen getting in to an older model, white quad cab pickup truck, possibly a Toyota Tacoma, with no bed liner, and a spare tire in the bed of the truck.
Sugar Land police say the same men may be connected to a separate robbery on Monday at First Colony Mall.
That robbery happened at a Helzberg Diamonds store around 5:40pm. Police say one man had a gun while another used hammers to smash a display case to take watches and other jewelry. The men escaped the store and were last seen driving away in a gray SUV.
No one was hurt in both robberies.
