Surveillance video shows naked man jumping onto hood of car in Anaheim
A surveillance camera captured a naked man smashing the back window of a parked van and jumping onto the hood of a moving car in Anaheim Saturday.

ANAHEIM, CA -- A 21-year-old man was arrested on vandalism charges after smashing the back window of a parked van and jumping onto the hood of a moving car in Anaheim Saturday. Police say Garrett Smith was naked and possibly under the influence.

Surveillance video captured the incident which occurred around 11:30 p.m. at an apartment complex in the 3700 block of Mungall Drive.

Charlie Barnes owns the van and says he couldn't believe it.

"I actually saw flesh on the window area," Barnes said.

A panicked driver in the vehicle next to the van then sped in reverse, hitting a fence. Smith jumped on top of the car, leading the driver to speed forward, bumping Smith and sending him flying.

The driver, identified as Clarisa Vidrio, came to a stop after slamming into a wall.

"[I] honestly thought I was dead. I was going to die that night," Vidrio said.

Police say Smith, who's from Riverside, ran about a mile away from the complex before he was arrested.

Vidrio says she was just trying to get away from the suspect. Her car's totaled, but she says that's not what bothers her the most.

"It's hard for me to come outside at night like the way I used to," she said. "I need someone to come with me."

While Vidrio, who works as an overnight security guard, begins to save for a new car, she says she wants justice for the man who caused all of this damage.

"Hopefully, you get what you deserve because you really scarred me," Vidrio said.

Smith was initially arrested for vandalism, resisting arrest and being under the influence. He was released Tuesday pending the results of a toxicology test from UC Irvine Medical Center.
