VERO BEACH, FL (KTRK) -- If you need another reminder of the dangers law enforcement officers face every day, check out this video clip.

It's from a traffic stop in Indian River County, Florida. Dash cam video released on Friday shows Deputy Christopher Lester stopping a man, identified as Andrew Coffee, on a scooter for not having a tag on the vehicle.

As Deputy Lester tried to arrest Coffee, Coffee punched Lester, pulled out a gun and shot Lester in the leg. Deputy Lester returned fire, hitting Coffee twice.

Deputy Lester is in good condition. Coffee was undergoing surgery.
