Clerk fights back against armed robbers in Paterson
Josh Einiger reports from Paterson.

PATERSON, NJ -- Masked men stormed a store in Paterson, New Jersey with their guns blazing.

A clerk was held up. But what they didn't see is another employee who was hiding and ready to fight back.

Gunfire and, apparently, pepper spray was exchanged and it was all caught on camera.

They were minding their own business trying to make an honest buck when the two masked men burst in. At least one of them was waving a gun and forcing the clerk to open the register.

On the video you can watch as another employee is hiding behind a rack of snacks and decided he would fight back.

He sprayed the triggerman with what appears to be pepper spray, but it was no match for the gun. The suspect fired twice, hitting the victim in the hand.

The two robbers then ran out of the store and the workers ran after them.

Wednesday night, police were back at the Power Gas Station on 21st Avenue in Paterson, as they continued to search for those masked man, who made off with cash from the store's register.

It was an especially brazen crime. Not merely brandishing a gun, but also showing no hesitation when it came to pulling the trigger.

The victim was treated at the hospital and released.

If anyone has any information they are asked to call the Paterson Police Department.
