Victims' relative charged in deadly Willowbrook Mall shooting

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A relative of the two people who were shot earlier this week outside Willowbrook Mall in northwest Houston is now facing charges in the violent attack.

Dante Thomas is charged with murder and aggravated assault on a family member in connection to the Wednesday evening shooting inside a pickup truck in the parking lot of the Macy's store. He was taken into custody Thursday night in northwest Harris County.

Investigators have not yet said what led to the shooting. One woman -- Thomas' aunt -- died in the truck. Her adult daughter was transported to the hospital and is in critical but stable condition. Both victims were shot in the head.

Police say Thomas, who is charged with murder in connection to another case, was out on bond.

Thomas is now being held without bond.
