Two-year-old girl recovering after near drowning in NW Harris Co.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A two-year-old girl is reported in stable condition tonight at Memorial Hermann Hospital after falling into a children's pool.

The incident happened early Saturday evening at the community pool in the Wheatstone subdivision in the 16000 block of Wellers Way.

The child was at the pool with her parents and four siblings. Harris County deputies say the parents were trying to "round up" those four children, when the girl, the youngest in the family went in the kiddie pool and under the water.

Deputies say the parents quickly realized she was gone. When they pulled her from the pool, deputies were told she was unconscious.

CPR was given and she began breathing on her own. Within 20 minutes of the incident, she was on her way by Life Flight to the hospital.

The names of the child and her family have not been released. No charges are expected to be filed.

The pool has no lifeguard or staff; instead, homeowners have access by key to the fenced community pool.
