Toddler struck by mom's vehicle in Fort Bend Co. dies
According to the Ft. Bend County Sheriff's Office, the child's mother was clearing out the driveway when the tragic accident happened.

FT. BEND COUNTY, TX (KTRK) -- A toddler who was struck by a vehicle driven by her mother in Fort Bend County has died.

It happened in the 28000 block of Powder Ridge Road at around 10:40am. We're told the mother was with her 2-year-old daughter while visiting her sister. They were clearing out the driveway so that the kids could play when the accident happened.

"There was a construction manager in the neighborhood who saw what happened, saw what happened and tried to administer CPR on the child until police arrived," said Fort Bend County Sheriff Troy Nehls.

The child was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Katy, where we've learned she died.

"Knowing that somebody else is going through the same thing is a little hard," said Gee Sanchez, whose daughter was also killed in a accident in her driveway June. "I just got a call that something happened. They didn't tell me what exactly happened. But as a mom you have that weird feeling."

Sanchez said her father, in a big diesel truck was pulling forward in their driveway when her daughter London ran out. The truck's front tire killed London.

"I saw her body on the floor with a white sheet over it and it just hit me that she was gone," said Sanchez.

On Thursday evening, neighbors in the Katy area gathered for a candlelight vigil for the 2-year-old girl who was killed.

"There's going to be times where she's going to feel like the world is ending, but she has to be strong for her kids, her husband as well, if she had a husband," said Sanchez. "It's something that you have no control over. And you can't really blame anybody. Accidents are bound to happen."

Thursday evening, Sanchez received a metal from Life Gift for donating her daughter's tissues to help save others.
