Cars crash through frozen lake in Wisconsin
Parking might be a terrible nuisance sometimes, but this is a nightmare.

LAKE GENEVA, WI (KTRK) -- Just because you can doesn't mean you should.

That's the lesson nearly a dozen drivers learned Saturday when their cars sank after parking on a frozen lake in Wisconsin.

Officials at the Winterfest in Lake Geneva say about 10 to 12 vehicles fell through the ice. Five of those vehicles were driven off the ice, but the rest were totaled.

Darien Schaefer, president of Visit Lake Geneva, told WLS-TV that parking on the ice is totally legal, but not encouraged.

Most park on the ice at a boat access point for the purpose of ice fishing.
