Car slams into apartment
Police say a teen without a driver's license was at the wheel when the accident happened

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A woman is in the hospital after a car plowed through her southwest Houston apartment on Land's End Drive.

Jasmine Griffith was relaxing on her couch when a car drove through her apartment wall, which sent her flying through the room. She was taken to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital for her back and shoulder injuries.

Police say a 16-year-old male without a license was driving his mom's SUV with a teenage friend. Witnesses told Eyewitness News that the driver said he did hit the brakes but that the car apparently sped up. The mother of the driver apparently arrived at the scene after the accident and was taken into custody.

The family whose apartment was damaged said the crib of their one-year-old daughter was crushed in the impact and but that luckily, she was at her grandmother's home when the accident happened.

"I do love my wife with all of my heart," said Dwain Griffith, the husband of the victim. "That's my everything, along with my daughter. That's my company in life right there."
