Suspects arrested after breaking into north Houston home

Several suspects were arrested after a police search. Police believe they broke into a north Houston home.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A family in north Houston is unharmed after police say five men broke into a home early Tuesday morning.

It happened at a home at the corner of Coronado Street and Pittman street. According to Houston Police, the men broke through the door using a homemade battering ram.

When police arrived, some of the suspects were trying to escape in a truck. Their truck ran into a ditch and the men had to run away on foot.

Police K-9 units tracked down all 5 men. One of the dogs bit at least one suspect on the leg. The suspects were arrested and taken to jail in police cars.

Investigators are trying to determine why the robbers targeted this particular house. The family was not injured.
