Suspect jumps from overpass during police chase

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A man running from police jumped off an overpass and is now recovering from serious injuries at the hospital.

Police say they began chasing the man early this morning after he allegedly beat up his mother and father. Officers chased him from Ella at the 610 Loop around to Hempstead.

Once at Hempstead, the suspect got out of his vehicle and jumped from the overpass, seriously injuring himself. He waa taken to Ben Taub hospital.

Charges against the man are pending.
