HOUSTON (KTRK) -- David Conley, the suspect in the mass killing of six children and two adults last weekend, has been taken from the jail to a medical facility.

Ryan Sullivan with the Harris County Sheriff's Office says Conley was transported due to "medical concerns."

Authorities would not confirm whether Conley was transported for a long-standing medical issue or something new. However, we're told the concerns are minor.

Sullivan said Conley was being housed in solitary confinement inside a maximum security cell before he was transported to the medical facility.

Sullivan did not say how long Conley is expected to be hospitalized.
