LIBERTY COUNTY, TX (KTRK) -- A man is now charged in the death of a Houston man whose charred remains were found in a burned tarp in Liberty County last year.

Marcus Clifton Johnson, 39, is now charged with tampering with or fabricating physical evidence. Johnson was arrested in Pasadena yesterday after a year-long investigation.

Authorities say Johnson faces additional charges after narcotics and a gun were found in his vehicle.

The burned victim from last year's case was identified by police as Isaiah Jerome Rios, 20, of Houston. Authorities say Rios had narcotics in his system at the time of his death on November 20, 2014. His body was found just off Private Road 442 near FM 1409.

The case is still being investigated and authorities say more arrests are expected.
