A 37-year-old man is accused of preying on elderly woman and sexually assaulting them after breaking into their homes at night

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A 37-year-old man is accused of preying on elderly woman and sexually assaulting them after breaking into their homes at night.

Fred Hubbard appeared before a judge Monday morning on two counts of aggravated sexual assault and one count of burglary of habitation related to those cases. Harris County prosecutors say Hubbard broke into a victim's apartment at Primrose at Casa Bella in north Houston last November.

"I thought it was a light popping, like a burned out light bulb. And as I was turning around I could see his hand," that victim tells Eyewitness News.

The victim, who we're only calling Betty, says she tried to call 911 but he took her phone and threw it.

"He forced me to have oral sex. There was no penetration, but oral sex," Betty says. "Then he went into the back bedroom and satisfied himself."

He allegedly forced her to watch and participate. She tells us he then made her undress and stay in her bathroom while he bleached the floors, and stole her purse, television, DVD player, coffee pot, and pain meds. Betty is 67 and wonders why he went after her.

"I'm an old fat old woman with one leg in a wheelchair," she said.

Authorities were able to use the suspect's blood left on the window to identify him. That same DNA sample later connected Hubbard to a previous, similar crime from the summer of 2014 at another senior living community on Old Bammell.

"During that sexual assault the defendant did essentially the same thing: broke into a woman's apartment in the middle of the night. That woman was elderly, 66 years old and he sexually assaulted her," Said Stuart Tallachet, Assistant Harris County District Attorney Stuart Tallichet. "Police put his photo into a photo array and she identified him."

Both of these sexual assaults happened at Primrose properties. The company told us late Monday evening that Hubbard has never lived or worked at either community.

Hubbard has a lengthy criminal record that includes drugs and assault. He's being held without bond.

Investigators believe there may be more victims. Those potential victims are asked to call the Adult sex crimes unit at 713-274-9370.
