HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Security footage at a midtown convenience store showed two people attempting a smash-and-grab early this morning.

Houston police officers said the crime happened around 3:40am. They told Eyewitness News suspects using a stolen truck tried to break into Sunny's Food Store on Tuam Street.

Investigators reported two women were inside the store at the time, working on the books, when they heard a loud crash.

The would-be crooks ran out of the truck and into the night. They remain on the run.

Fortunately, there are no injuries to report but heavy damage to the store.
