Spokesman: Yoko Ono hospitalized with 'symptoms along the lines of a serious flu,' not stroke

NEW YORK (KTRK) -- Yoko Ono, the widow of the late Beatles star John Lennon, has been hospitalized in New York City with flu-like symptoms, her spokesperson said.

Elliot Mintz tells ABC News that any reports of a stroke or any life-threatening circumstances are inaccurate.

In a statement, Mintz said: "To the best of my knowledge, she had symptoms along the lines of a serious flu, and her doctor thought it was best that she would get a check-up at the hospital."

He said the 83-year-old widow of John Lennon likely will be released from the hospital Saturday.

A Fire Department spokesman says an ambulance was called to Ono's apartment building at 72nd Street and Central Park West in Manhattan around 9 p.m. Friday.

Ono has lived in the luxury apartment building on Manhattan's Upper West Side since 1973. Lennon was shot and killed in front of the building on Dec. 8, 1980.
