Houston police have released a sketch of a suspect in two shootings

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Houston police have released a sketch of a suspect in two seemingly random shootings last month in the Third Ward.

A University of Houston student was shot on his way to work in the arm and a construction worker was shot at as well.

The suspect was seen driving a late-model GMC truck. He used a rifle and shot out of the passenger side in one case and the driver's side in the other and drove off in both shootings.

HPD investigator Ryan Moreland said, "That's what you could say is concerning is we don't know a motive. Neither one of the victims have much in common. He didn't say anything to them and so...it's just somewhat concerning (that) someone with no apparent motive just committed both of these acts."

At this point, police say there are no other similar shootings to connect that man to. He is believed to be in his 20s or early 30s. However, since he was in a truck, his height cannot be gauged.

Anyone with information in this case is asked to call Houston police or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477).
