Sheriff: Man with autism found living with father's body

NEW CANEY, TX (KTRK) -- The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office said an autistic man lived with his father's dead body for several days.

Authorities were called to a home on the 16500 block of Firetower Road late Wednesday morning after a co-worker grew concerned that 52-year-old Darrell Parker had not shown up for work in several days.

Inside the house, the co-worker found Parker's 30-year-old son with autism living with his body.

Investigators say Parker had been dead for "a while" when they arrived. The medical examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine his cause of death.

The son is now in his mother's custody.
