HOUSTON -- A gas leak in north Harris County prompted authorities to order a shelter in place for a nearby neighborhood.

Authorities say around 7:45pm, someone digging hit a 2" to 4" gas distribution line on Rankin Road, causing a leak. CenterPoint Energy Spokeswoman Alicia Dixon says crews have turned the gas off, but it will be another hour or so until the line is capped.

All of The Stonehedge subdivision is now under a shelter in place.

Aldine VFD and CenterPoint crews are currently working the scene.
