Serial rapist to get multiple life sentences in prison

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A serial rapist is headed to prison to serve multiple life sentences.

A jury found Herman Whitfield guilty of aggravated sexual assault yesterday, and this morning, he was sentenced to life in prison.

In addition, Whitfield pleaded guilty to three other aggravated sexual assaults and received life for each of those as well. All four life sentences are to run concurrently.

Whitfield has been linked to 21 sexual assaults, mostly in Houston's Sunnyside neighborhood.
