HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Police are searching for clues after a man was found dead in his apartment on the city's southwest side this morning.

Police were called by a friend of the victim to the apartments on Westbrae Parkway near Gessner at around 5:45am. When cops got there, they found the man dead inside.

Police tell us there is no sign of a struggle or of a break in. Police say because of that, the victim may have known his attacker.

That victim is described by police as an Asian man in his mid-30s. Police say it was a friend of the victim who first discovered the body.

"A friend of the complainant was notified," said David Stark with HPD. "He did come over to the scene. He is cooperating and he has agreed to go down and talk to us. He is not a suspect. We are still trying to figure who exactly called to let him know that his friend had been shot."

We spoke with neighbors who said they did not hear anything unusual. So far, there's no word on who did this or why.
