Police seek tips on cleaning supply thief in Montrose
A suspected thief is accused of stealing hundreds, maybe thousands of dollars in cleaning supplies from a popular Montrose restaurant.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- In broad daylight, while the kitchen was busy and employees were hard at work, a thief was caught on surveillance cameras stealing from Cuchara restaurant in Montrose.

"I'm definitely angry we've been taken advantage of," said Charlie McDaniel.

McDaniel believes the man is responsible for stealing hundreds, if not possibly thousands of dollars' worth of supplies from his business that have mysteriously disappeared from time to time.

"There's a lot of things missing and it appears in the video it was not his first time because he knew exactly where he was going when he stole the items," said McDaniel.

The thief is hungry for cleaning supplies.

He goes after specific items and in the surveillance video, the man is seen snooping around.

He goes heavy boxes filled with trash bags.

"That stuff is expensive. That's $45 a box," said McDaniel. "It makes you feel dirty I mean you're sitting there watching the video and then you realize someone was coming in your place and stealing while you were right here."

McDaniel is already frustrated with the amount of petty crimes he's seen in the Montrose area, but this time, it's personal.

"We've had a lot of car windows broken," he said.

He's keeping his belongings locked up and determined to catch the cleaning supply bandit.

"Now everyone knows what he looks like we'll be watching for him in the neighborhood," he said.
