Police: Friendswood inmate made knife out of things in her underwear
A burglary suspect allegedly fashioned a knife out of things hidden in her underwear, police say.

FRIENDSWOOD, Texas (KTRK) -- A burglary suspect fashioned a makeshift knife out of things hidden in her underwear while being held in jail, according to Friendswood police.

Toni Marie Allen, 47, of Friendswood was arrested March 3 when a resident on the 100 block of Dunbar Estates alerted police that a woman was inside of his vehicle.

Allen told police that she did not have electricity in her home and was looking for a place to charge her phone, but she was taken into custody after the car's owner discovered that change, a solar light and a phone charger were missing from his vehicle.

She was charged with burglary of a motor vehicle and booked into jail on $1,500 bond.

Later in the day, a police dispatcher noticed Allen fiddling with what appeared to be a string. A female officer then found Allen to be in possession of a makeshift knife.

Authorities believe Allen fashioned the weapon out of a wire brush and sunglasses that she had hidden in her underwear and a jail blanket.

Allen was charged with possession of a prohibited item in jail. An additional $15,000 was added to her bond.
