NILES, OH (KTRK) -- A 25-year-old mom is facing disorderly conduct charges for allegedly swinging her baby carrier at a group of people, while the infant was inside. It happened outside a Red Lobster in Niles, Ohio. According to police, Carleigh Dawson went to the restaurant with her nine-month-old daughter on Saturday. Employees said Dawson had two two Long Island iced teas and became drunk and belligerent.

Police say they received multiple 911 calls about an intoxicated patron, as employees and other customers tried to prevent Dawson from getting into her vehicle with the child and driving off. Dawson reportedly swung the baby carrier, with her child inside, at people who were trying to stop her from driving. Witnesses say she dropped the carrier on the pavement.

Officers say when Dawson was arrested she kicked the door and divider of the cruiser several times, nearly shattering the squad car's glass. Dawson was issued a summons and released from custody once she sobered up.

The infant was taken to the hospital as a precaution. She was unhurt and released to the custody of relatives.
