Police: Driver under influence kills man, dog in NW Houston

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Charges are pending against a driver who police say hit and killed a man and one of his dogs last night in northwest Houston.

It happened around 8:15pm on Kempwood near Gessner. Authorities say the victim was walking two dogs in a dark area when he was hit.

Investigators say the driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the crash.
