ORANGE, CT -- A woman was arrested Thursday in Connecticut for leaving her child in a car alone in a parking lot.

Orange Police Department officers responded around 11:15 a.m. to a 911 call about a child left in a car at the Trader Joe's on Boston Post Road.

According to a police statement, as police found a 3-year-old in a vehicle, the child's mother, Nathalie Stonier, returned. She told police she had been grocery shopping and left the child in the car.

The child was not hurt and is in the custody of the father.

Stonier, 36, of Shelton, Conn., was arrested, and charged with risk of injury to a minor and leaving a child under 12 unsupervised in a motor vehicle.

She was released and is scheduled to appear in Derby Superior Court on Monday.
