CONROE, TX (KTRK) -- Traffic was down to one lane during the morning commute on I-45 near Conroe for about an hour Tuesday morning. A car chase ended in the southbound lanes just before the Wilson exit.

One driver was taken into custody after troopers gave him what appeared to be a series of sobriety tests. A bottle of what looked like liquor was also seen in the back of his truck.

The chase started about 20 miles north on I-45. Investigators say a constable deputy in Walker County noticed the driver swerving in and out of traffic. He tried to pull him over, but the driver took off. Law enforcement from several jurisdictions tried to stop the man. DPS put down spike strips on I-45, but the driver was able to get around them.

The chase ended when DPS troopers boxed in the driver. No one was hurt. He was taken into custody.
