Authorities search for person of interest in deadly taqueria shooting

ARCOLA, TX (KTRK) -- A person of interest is being sought in a fatal shooting that occurred in January in Arcola.

At 10:20pm Sunday, January 19, Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office deputies were called to a taqueria, El Taco Regio, located in the 5200 block of FM 521 to assist the Arcola Police Department in a deadly shooting investigation.

Kenny Perez, 30, was fatally shot and his father was wounded. A third person, a woman, was struck in the foot by a bullet, suffering minor injuries.

Authorities say Perez and his father got into an altercation with four men who were seated in the restaurant. One of the suspects pulled a gun and began firing, striking Perez and his father and the female who was seated at a table away from the incident.

Deputies have identified a person of interest, who is believed to be the shooter.

He is described as a Hispanic male, about 5-feet, 8-inches tall with a slender build. He was wearing red pants and a blue shirt that had a prominent logo on the front.

He had closely cropped hair and was wearing a necklace made of beads.

Another suspect is slightly taller, has a bigger build and is about the same height. He was wearing a blue synthetic jacket and had sunglasses on top of closely cropped hair. He also is a Hispanic male.

Two other Hispanic males were in the group that got into the confrontation. One is about 5-feet, 9-inches tall and has a slender build. He was wearing a blue shirt open at the collar and dark pants. He had a crew cut hairstyle. The other suspect was wearing a plaid shirt with a blue baseball cap and dark pants. He also was wearing a synthetic material jacket.

Information which leads to the apprehension and filing of charges on the suspects involved could earn a reward of up to $5,000. All calls to Crime Stoppers are anonymous.
