CYPRESS, TX -- A young girl was airlifted to the hospital after she was struck by a car while rollerblading in her northwest Harris County neighborhood.

The scene is unfolding on Windfern at Rodney Ray Boulevard.

According to multiple witnesses, another neighbor hit the girl, who's believed to be around the age of 10, with his truck while he was driving to work. He was distraught and is now speaking to investigators.

The girl was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital. Neighbors say she was speaking to them after she was hit, so they believe she will survive but with major injuries on her arms and legs.

Authorities have already taken witness statements and will be testing the driver to see if he was under the influence of drugs or alcohol, which is protocol in these types of accidents. The outcome of their investigation will determine whether he will face any charges.
