HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A woman and her dog rescued a sleeping neighbor and his dog from a burning home in northwest Houston.

It happened around 2:25am this morning on Richelieu Lane near Hewitt Drive.

A woman living next door says her dog woke her up. She looked outside and saw smoke coming from her neighbor's house.

She went next door, knocked on the door and discovered it was unlocked. She told firefighters she then went into the home, woke up the male homeowner allowing both him and his dog to escape unharmed.

Firefighters believe an electrical problem is to blame for the fire.
