Mother of man accused of hiring a hitman defends her son
Mother of suspect charged with capital murder in the murder of a pregnant Baytown woman says 'He's not a murderer.'

Linda Brown is the mother of one of the suspect's charged in the Baytown murder of Rose Maria Hunt and her unborn child.

Brown said, "it doesn't make any sense," and she thinks about Hunt's family.

"I'm so sorry for what happened to them. They are in my heart. I pray every night for them," Brown added, as she fiercely defended her 24-year-old son.

Brown believes there is no way her son, Derrick Metcalf, was involved. "Derrick Metcalf is innocent, he didn't do this," said Brown.

Arrest made in the murder of a pregnant woman in Baytown

The suspect's mother said she knew of Hunt and that it's possible her son was the father of the child the 21-year-old was carrying. "I believe maybe (Metcalf) was," said Brown.

Investigators in Baytown have suggested the pregnancy as a possible motive but Brown said her son, already the father of two, wouldn't harm anyone.

"He loved children. He's not a murderer. He wouldn't have done this," said Brown.

Hunt's body was found on Tri City Beach Road in Baytown on Feb. 24. Police said she was shot once and wrapped in a blanket. Within days investigators charged David Galindo in the murder.

Sister of Baytown murder victim: 'I just want justice for her'

The sister of a pregnant woman found dead is pleading for justice.

Another suspect, 18-year-old Daizy Costello was also charged along with Metcalf.

According to Baytown police, Metcalf paid Galindo $1500 to carry out the crime and Costello was the go-between and was present during the planning.

Brown said, "He don't even know that girl or that guy."

Police have said Metcalf and Costello confessed.

Metcalf's mother said she met with him after he was arrested and that's not what she was told.

"He said he did not confess to this crime."

Hunt's and Metcalf's family both agree they want justice for Rose. It will be up to a jury to decide what that looks like.

All three suspects remain in the Harris County Jail with no bond and charged with capital murder.
