more vicitms might be involved in sex trafficking
Police are concerned that there might be more victims in sex trafficking cases.

PEARLAND, Texas (KTRK) -- It's a case investigators have worked on for a year and it's not over yet.

"There's always the potential of other victims coming out and speaking, this was a year-long investigation," Sergeant Stephen Woodard with the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Prosecutors say 20-year-old Dihlon Davis started a prostitution ring -- a pyramid scheme.

Investigators say his girlfriend worked underneath him and then she recruited other girls.

"Essentially what you have is a pimp or a trafficker who is recruiting minors, and is probably using another minor to help facilitate this as well," said Jamey Caruthers, the Senior Staff Attorney for Children at Risk.

Investigators reported that there were six teenage victims. Some of them attended Manvel High School in Alvin ISD.

The district declined an on-camera interview but did tell Eyewitness News that they do not believe there are any other student victims in this case.

Alvin ISD said they learned about the prostitution claims after multiple students got into a fight.

After investigating the fight, it revealed details about the scheme.

Court records say photographs of the women in their underwear were placed on backpage.com.

"There is no standard victim profile. It could be the girl next door, it could be anyone," said Caruthers.

For that reason, DPS is asking parents to monitor what their kids are doing online and on their phone.

Sergeant Woodard said that they receive a lot information in various investigations by examining social media accounts.

As for the victims, they're still healing.

"There's going to be post-traumatic stress disorder for a lot of them. They're going to require victims' services," said Caruthers.
