Mayor Annise Parker delivers final State of the City address

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Mayor Annise Parker delivered her final state of the city address, where she said Houston is well-prepared to handle the challenges of the future.

Thursday was the mayor's sixth and final state of the city address at the Hilton Americas in downtown Houston. Mayor Parker said she looked back on her administration and always tried to put Houston first.

"I love this city, I love the people who live here, I love the possibilities available here," Mayor Parker said, "and that love has driven every decision I have made as mayor."

In the speech, the mayor also addressed the downturn in the energy sector and focused on what she considered to be her accomplishments in office.

Mayor Parker said Houston faces challenges, such as rapid population growth and aging infrastructure, but the city remains strong and healthy, with a broad and resilient economy.
