HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A murder mystery in the Heights has Houston police busy this morning.

Investigators are trying to figure out who killed a man near Heights Boulevard and the Katy Freeway.

Police got a call about a body found next to a bicycle. He had been shot to death at Heights and 4th Street.

Homicide detectives told Eyewitness News the victim may be a local homeless man.

A homicide investigation is underway off the Katy Freeway this morning

They told us the victim was apparently being chased, and that he was running hard to get away from whoever was chasing him.

That man was eventually shot in the head as he ran away from the area of Heights Boulevard and the Katy Freeway.

Homicide investigators are now speaking with people who heard the gunshot and are trying to figure out exactly what happened here.

"It looks like somebody was chasing this individual out of the neighborhood by some of the details at the scene, so somebody chased him down and then shot him," said HPD Lt. W.L. Meeler.

There are security cameras on local businesses in the area, and police hope those cameras may have recorded what happened out here this morning.
