A man was found dead in a southwest Houston home. John Fenoglio reports.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Police say a man is dead this morning in southwest Houston, and his body shows signs of assault.

Investigators are on the scene right now on Summit Meadow near Fondren.

Homicide detectives were working inside the home, searching for more information on the death.

While very little is known about this homicide investigation, police are telling us that no shots were fired.

Early reports indicate that this may have been some sort of deadly assault. We can also tell you that - of the neighbors we've been speaking to - so far no one seems to have heard or seen anything suspicious. There are no reported cries for help or sounds of a commotion that is often associated with a forcible entry.

The garage door is wide open and a car is nowhere to be seen. Neighbors say at least two cars are in the home on a normal basis.

Neighbors describe the people who live at the home as Hispanic and renters who have been in the home for less than a year.

Neighbor Joseph Earle said, "It just alarms me. It makes me want to be a little more cautious. yeah. So it's a wake-up call for me, I'm sure my neighbors. I'm sure for everyone."

We are attempting to speak with investigators and will bring you more details as soon as we have them.
