One man is dead after a shooting in east Houston

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A Houston man was killed outside of his eastside home sometime early Friday morning. Authorities said a unknown gunman shot the man in the head. Investigators found the man, believed to be in his early 30s, in the driver's seat of a white pickup truck in the residential driveway.

The violent killing happened in the 13,000 block of Joliet Street near Uvalde Road. Police officers blocked off the entire street as homicide investigators launched their investigation. They expect to remain on scene for several more hours.

Chad Hogue with HPD homicide told Eyewitness News they're still trying to piece together exactly what led up to the murder.

"We do not have any real suspects in custody. We do have 2 people we want to talk to downtown and establish what they know about the crime," said Hogue "As of now it's an open and ongoing investigation."

Investigators did not recover a weapon. They also report there were no guns or drugs found at the scene.

Hogue said the man stays at the home from time to time with an elderly couple.

A neighbor, who asked not to be identified, told our crews the elderly man knocked on her door just after 4:00am. The neighbor said he was upset and asked her to call 911.

Eyewitness News crews witnessed a woman, with her hands zip tied and bagged, escorted away. They also witnessed another man being placed in the back of a squad car.
