Man kills wife, child in murder-suicide outside of Georgia McDonald's, police say

VARNELL, GA (KTRK) -- Police in Varnell, Georgia say a man shot and killed his wife and child outside a McDonald's last night.

Officers say it started out as a domestic situation. The shooter killed his estranged wife and their 8-year-old son, and then he killed himself.

The victims have been identified as Melissa Ball, Christopher Eric Whitmore, and their child Grayden Lee Whitmore, local station WDEF reports.

The station also reported the couple had previous domestic issues and was separated at the time of the incident.
