HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Detectives are investigating a deadly hit-and-run accident in northeast Houston.

Houston police responded to the 7900 block of Tidwell around 6:30pm Tuesday. Detectives say a vehicle traveling east on the roadway hit a man and kept driving.

Police are not sure if the victim was trying to cross the street or if he was walking alongside the road when he was hit. What is clear is that no one stayed behind to help.

Police have no witnesses. The North Forest Trails apartment complex is across the street from where it happened. They started there looking for information.

"We canvassed the area and we told them...people to call the Crime Stoppers tip line so if they do have that information, hopefully we'll get that at a later date," said Sgt. Jose Salazar with HPD's Vehicular Crimes Division.

The victim has not been identified but police say he is a black man in his 50's or 60's.

Call Crime Stoppers at 713-223-TIPS with information about this deadly hit-and-run.
