Man fatally struck by car in north Harris County

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A man is dead after he was hit by a car last night in north Harris County.

Deputies say the man was crossing the street in the 2800 block of Spears Road at Walters when he was hit.

One vehicle swerved to miss him, but a second car ended up hitting the man.

It's the second deadly auto-pedestrian accident on the same stretch of road this year.

Harris County Sheriff's Office Deputy Ryan Musil said, "It's poorly lit, they do have streetlights, but they do not illuminate the road way. there's no crosswalk in this area. there is a wide shoulder of grass people can walk down and he was just walking to the street to get to the other side."

Investigators have not yet released the man's name. They are working to find his identity.
